4 Reasons Why We Need Multiple Corona Vaccines For Covid-19

A common question since long why we need multiple vaccines for treating novel Corona patients and

the whole nation from the ongoing pandemic?

What is the vaccine? What do you understand by this term?

Vaccine– A biological preparation that provides immunity to fight against infectious diseases. It does this by priming the natural defense mechanisms of the body and helps in fighting against many illnesses.

Vaccines usually take a long time to develop and there are some cases in

which it took years to develop a vaccine for such disease.

Developing COVID-19 vaccines such as Pfizer BioNTech and Moderna, is under fast process, as scientists started working on them since the first article of a novel coronavirus, were in news amid country.

  • The first vaccine was authorized in the US by Health-Care Workers on December 14 and was developed by Pharmaceutical Pfizer and German Firm BioNTech which consist of a total of 2 shots, given in 3 weeks intervals.
  • Second Vaccine Moderna’s was by Massachusetts Biotechnology Company in partnership with National Institute of Allergy & Infectious Diseases consists of 2 shots given in 28 days interval. They both are the first vaccines using messenger RNA technology approved for humans by Food and Drug Administration.

Both vaccines have shown promising results. And the third clinical trial of the vaccine is under progress and it is expected to receive emergency approval from

Federal Drug Administration( FDA), before the end of the year.

But the question is will only these 2 vaccines sufficient for the whole nation?

How long do people wait to get vaccinated? If conditions worsen then??

Here are the reasons why we need multiple vaccines to treat the novel coronavirus

1. We need more corona vaccines, so that process didn’t delay much and reach as many people immediately.

Including the older generation, the common people, the daily wage laborers, and the people with certain health ailments all get benefitted without more delays in the ongoing vaccination process. Because we are not sure about the time, when these two already tested vaccines reach the highest of population and

when the 3rd trial of vaccines get approved by the Centre as a successful result.

One more possibility is the already available vaccine is not fully effective or helpful for everyone. If we have multiple options for vaccines we can easily choose the suitable vaccine for the particular age group

without thinking twice about protecting everyone.

2. More options in the vaccine so we don’t have to choose in between the life of two age groups and

those at higher risks

We need to work with a power ranger speed to successfully meet the target and vaccinate most people till the end of the year, and for the same, we need approximately around 2 billion doses of vaccine. Since we can’t just depend

on 1 or 2 options that’s already available, as the population is vast and the process is slow

According to reports Moderna approximately produce 500 million doses of vaccines till the next year. But the dosage counts for 2 shots, which means fewer people.

3. To make the reach of vaccines to everyone around the world.

To make them available to everyone whoever is in need, whether the rural metropolitan or the common man. But both the Pfizer-BioNTech and Modern a requires extreme refrigeration requirements for a long-term storage facility, to ensure they stay viable, which is a difficult situation for every place and

especially during Summers when the temperature even challenges the sun many times. That’s why we need multiple vaccines option with favorable conditions to make it available in every condition and temperature.

4. Vaccines that can be available and affordable to all countries and that are supported through COVAX

Dealing with the current pandemic, people from everywhere, irrespective of their financial conditions must have access to the process of Covid treatments and vaccine. Even though manufacturing companies of vaccines make a direct deal with pharmaceutical companies of the country

to make the bulk of dosage available to them

Most orders for the vaccines are from stable income countries like the US, with more than 1/6th of availability and the UK has 5 times more dosage than

the population of its own country, that is around 300 million vaccine doses.

COVAX (Covid-19 Vaccine Global Access Facility) is to make sure about the availability of vaccines to most parts of the world. They work by supporting the research process, manufacturing, and development for a wide range of vaccines

by making them available at a reasonable price by little negotiations in price.

All countries get the benefits under this COVAX. And countries like

the US who secured a stock need to share it with countries that are in much need of the vaccine dosages.
