LawDocs Journal of Applied Law

LawDocs Journal of Applied Law is an open access, peer-reviewed, refereed and quarterly journal dedicated to sharing divergent perspectives on pertinent legal issues, thereby facilitating a revamped approach to such issues. The publication of the first edition of the journal is expected to be done by the first quarter of 2021. Submissions are invited on a rolling basis. The quality and originality of the content submitted will be prime factors while evaluating the submissions. The journal is in association with our Research Centres: Centre for Research on Legal Solutions and Centre for Research on Dispute Resolution and the author will also get a chance to get associated with the research centres.

Aim and Scope

  • Provide a platform for  students, researchers, jurists, academicians and legal practitioners to put forward their views on contemporary and relevant legal topics. 
  • Provide an opportunity for the people interested in legal research to expand their reach and knowledge. 
  • Promote legal research and encourage dialogue among researchers on the relevant and technical legal issues.
  • Boost the publications in the legal arena, in order to understand the loopholes and lacunae in the current legal scenario of our country and work out ways to deal with the same. 
  • Act as a facilitator between the legal researchers and the law makers of our country, and thereby provide a good opportunity for the people who want to reform the legal sector to do so and also get recognition from the industry.

Themes

The submissions should deal with:

  • Any relevant legal topic inclusive of judgments, legislative amendments and legal developments in India.
  • Legal opinions and responses to already published articles.
  • Articles relating to law and its relation to other disciplines.

Submission Guidelines

  • Headings and Word limit:
  • Articles: 3000-5000 words
  • Legal opinions: 2000-4000 words
  • The word-limit is exclusive of the footnotes/endnot
  • Originality:
  • The work submitted should be the original work of the author and should not have been submitted to any other publication either in print or online.
  • Plagiarism for more than 20% would lead to disqualification of the manuscript.
  • Font type and font size:
  • The content should be in Times New Roman size 12.
  • The main heading should be in Times New Roman size 16, bold and in capital case.
  • The sub-headings should be in Times New Roman Size 14, bold and sentence case.
  • Line spacing should be 1.5, justified alignment.
  • Co-authorship:
  • Co-authorship is permitted to up to 2 people from the same or different institutions.
  • Footnotes/Endnotes:
  • Footnotes/Endnotes should confirm to _________________
  • Footnotes/Endnotes should be typed in font Times New Roman, font size 10 and line spacing 1.
  • Abstract:
  • All the submissions should have an abstract of not more than 300 words.
  • Cover Letter:
  • A cover letter must be attached with the manuscript consisting of the name(s) of the author(s) and address, designation, institution/affiliation, the title of the manuscript and contact information (email, phone, etc.). 
  • Format:
  • All the submissions should be made in the MS word file (doc./docx.)
  • Declaration
  • The authors are required to provide a declaration with respect to the originality of the work. For example, “I confirm this is my original work in totality”.
  • Certification:
  • A Certificate of Publication would be provided to the author of every publication.
  • Language:
  • The author is advised not to use over-technical language while writing the content. 
  • Un-common legal terms or maxims should be explained in the footnotes.

Submission Process

Authors are advised to provide a short bio of themselves in the email body. The authors are requested to send their submissions after attaching the required files to (E-mail address) with the subject “Submission for LJAL”.

Editorial Process

  • The Editorial team will take around 2 weeks to respond to the submissions.
  • The manuscript after the submission will go through a plagiarism check and if found plagiarised by more than the prescribed limit, the same would be rejected. 
  • The manuscript will then go through a 2-staged review process.
  • The Editorial team will evaluate submissions on the basis of criteria inclusive of but not restricted to originality, argumentation, language, structure and analysis. Purely descriptive pieces are discouraged.
  • Editors shall compare the submissions with the already existing literature available on the topic to understand the newness in the content.
  • The Editorial team has the right to reject a piece at any stage, if it is seen that the above-mentioned criteria are not duly met.
  • In case of any dispute or issue, the decision of the Editorial team would be considered final.
